Case manager absenteeism

The case manager advises, coordinates and monitors the absence policy for temporary workers. As case manager you are responsible from A to Z for the entire period of illness of an employee and you are a sparring partner and advisor in sustainable reintegration and complex casuistry. You ensure that absenteeism files are built according to the WvP and regularly interact with various parties such as the company doctor/Arbodienst, UWV and other specialists. In addition, you will support the HR advisor with the absence supervision of permanent staff. This position is more focused on thinking in terms of possibilities rather than limitations.

Job Description

The following are among the duties of a case manager

  • The sickness reports come in digitally or by phone and you process them further in the system. You answer questions arising in connection with absenteeism and reintegration, from flexible employees, clients or other parties involved;
  • You will conduct short frequent absence interviews with employees who repeatedly take short absences with the goal of preventing long-term absence, not avoiding difficult conversations;
  • You are able to analyze complex long-term absence cases and can switch between legal, medical and business aspects;
  • In case of medium or long-term absence, you will ensure that the right steps are taken in the first 3 weeks of absence based on the internal absence procedure, the advice of the company doctor, the Sickness Law policy and the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter.
  • You ensure good cooperation between all parties involved to achieve rapid and sustainable reintegration of the sick employee;
  • You have strong communication skills and the ability to switch between different levels in the organization;
  • You are solution-oriented and able to balance the interests of employer and employee;
  • You actively liaise with the designated company physician;
  • You monitor compliance with guidelines and laws and regulations;
  • You will ensure correct application and processing of WAZO and safety net related benefits;
  • You will periodically report absence figures, costs, absence trends and improvement proposals to the finance director;
  • You will contribute to the optimization and professionalization of services in the field of absence prevention and absence counseling resulting in reduction of absenteeism and WIA inflow;
  • You are administratively strong and accurate in file management.

Responsibilities

Supervision of absenteeism processes

  • Coordinate and monitor absenteeism and reintegration programs.
  • Advising and supporting managers and employees on absence issues.
  • Set up and monitor the schedule according to the Gatekeeper Improvement Act.

Communication and collaboration

  • Function as a point of contact for employees, supervisors, occupational health and safety services and other interested parties.
  • Consult with company physician and other specialists about reintegration options.
  • Provide reporting and reporting on absence files.

Laws and regulations

  • Ensure compliance with the Gatekeeper Improvement Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Advise on absenteeism policy and prevention within the organization.
  • Identify trends and developments in the field of absenteeism and reintegration.

Within this position you will work largely independently. Work is carried out at fixed working hours at our headquarters in Venlo. Within this role it is occasionally necessary to travel to the organization’s business units or an external location. The employee will be accountable to the HR Advisor.

Job Requirements

This position requires at least a relevant college education or college work and thinking level. You have 3 to 5 years of experience in absence counseling and reintegration and are available for 24 to 32 hours per week. Command of both the Dutch and Polish language is necessary, while knowledge of English is a plus. In addition, you are in possession of the SEU diploma or willing to obtain one. Affinity with the temporary employment industry is important, as is knowledge of social laws and regulations, such as the Wet verbetering poortwachter (WvP) and the Ziektewet (ZW).
